private dining

After over ten years, 555 is a permanent fixture in the Portland dining scene. Chef Steve Corry and his wife, Michelle Corry, came to Portland with the idea of opening an elegant yet welcoming dining venue, embracing the use of local and seasonal ingredients...

As you walk into the restaurant, you will be met by the professional & warm staff in the vivacious Point Five Lounge. Just around the corner, the main dining room will impress you with its exciting open kitchen and distinctive architecture, dating back to its days as a 19th century firehouse. There are two levels of seating, including second floor balcony tables that allow you to observe the sights of the restaurant and kitchen below.

No matter where you dine, you will be treated to Chef Corry’s acclaimed contemporary New England cuisine paired with Michelle’s award-winning wine list. Welcome, and enjoy!

If you are in the mood for lighter fare, innovative cocktails, late night bites or just dessert, the lounge side of 555 offers a more casual scene, but with the same elegance for which the restaurant is known. Drop in and try one of Josh’s signature cocktails, expertly crafted with seasonal and local ingredients.

Join us in 555’s Turnbuckle Room, named for the unique architectural facet whereby the floor is held up by steel poles and beams from the ceiling. This elegant—and brand new—room is located on the third floor of the restaurant, affording guests a unique bird’s eye view of Portland’s historic Arts District. The room can accommodate up to 30 diners for a formal sit-down meal or 50 for a standing cocktail reception.

Alternatively, our second-floor mezzanine, overlooking the downstairs dining room and open kitchen, holds up to 18 people for a semi-private affair. Both spaces have a variety of menu options and can be personalized to fit your party’s needs.

We also offer additional services such as off-premise catering and full or partial restaurant buyouts. Allow our Events Manager to seamlessly coordinate your special event here at 555.

Customer Reviews

"I just returned from Maine last night. We could not have been more pleased with our choice of having Carol's 60th Birthday celebration at Five Fifty-Five. It was great to have the privacy of the mezzanine for our group, the menu and food was absolutely delicious, the wine was enjoyed by the participants and the service was A+++. Carol loved receiving the menu signed by the staff in the kitchen, a very cool touch!

Thank you for helping us with the party planning and we would recommend Five Fifty-Five very highly!

Kind regards,
"Our experience at Five Fifty-Five was phenomenal. The food was exquisite (the lobster mac-and-cheese changed my life—along with many other committee members), and the service was truly wonderful. The private dining space we were given was gorgeous, but a tad cramped for the size of our group. Other than that, I'd give them an A+!"

"Outstanding Restaurant for Wedding Rehearsal Dinner"
5 of 5 starsReviewed January 7, 2016

"We had my son's and his bride's wedding rehearsal dinner at Five Fifty-Five on December 30, 2015. Due to that large size of the wedding party and other guests (about 50 people), we decided to take over the entire restaurant for the celebration. The experience was fantastic from the initial planning stage with Hayley, the 555 events coordinator, through cocktails and the entire dinner. Hayley and the 555 staff worked with us to create an exceptional menu, including a variety of very tasty hors d'oeuvres (they were actually hot when passed - that is not always the case during cocktail hours!), special signature mixed drinks in honor of the bride & groom and a terrific four course dinner with a number of gourmet choices for each course. The food was excellent! 555 also has an exceptional wine list from which we were able to select a number of fine wines for both the cocktail session and dinner. The wait staff were ALL professional and friendly, something that we really appreciated because, although we enjoy fine dining, we and our guests are not stuffy and prefer a relaxed, fun dining atmosphere. A special shout-out to La, the lead bartender; a great bartender is worth their weight in gold and 555 has one with La! A special thanks to Hayley who not only helped with the planning but then was the event captain throughout the night, making certain everything went as or better than planned. I am certain the event was huge success because we had many guests rave about the entire night - and that's what truly matters. Five Fifty-Five was outstanding in every respect.

"Our team loved the whole experience at 555, from the appetizers and drinks on the top floor to the three-course dinner on the first floor. The food, presentation and service were memorable.

I want to give YOU a shout out for quickly following up with every email and for carefully noting all our preferences. The "special dietary needs" person on our team was most grateful for her unique menu and delicious dinner.

I've overhead several of our staffers saying that they want to return to 555 with their S.O. for a special night out. Me, too!

Thank you again,
